A rare and unique ballet performance, Delibes’ Sylvia is performed in Ferenc Erkel Opera Theatre Budapest.
Sylvia, originally Sylvia, is a full-length ballet in two or three acts, first choreographed by Louis Merante to music by Leo Delibes in 1876.
Sylvia, a romantic story, set in antiquity, literally places love on a pedestal in the person of the Greek god Eros.
Did you know that Delibes’ works, including pieces his ballets, have repeatedly been used in films? His music is also a favorite of cartoon series, such as “The Simpsons.”
